Mission Coffee House Concert Series is excited to present the phenomenal emerging Canadian country sensation, Annika Catharina, at The Hall at Heritage Park Centre, a premier acoustic listening room for discerning live music enthusiasts!
Raised in the beautiful community of Deroche, BC, Annika Catharina fell in love with country music the moment she heard Patsy Cline singing "Walking After Midnight" and “Crazy”. Though pop and rock were the genres she first loved, after hearing Patsy Cline, Annika wanted to perform country songs any chance she got.
It is Annika’s faith, determination, hard work, and heart that has carried her to where she is today. After surviving a serious moped accident in Southeast Asia in 2017, she was forced to stop and reflect on life in a way she never had to before. Multiple surgeries and reconstructive facial surgery created life changing circumstances which only hardened her resolve to pursue music as a career and give it everything she had. Determined to turn this setback into a turning point of positive transformation, Annika steadily grew her musical activities, later joining a working band and forming an acoustic duo. The experience made Annika stronger in her faith and reminded her just how short life really is.
Unafraid to tackle thorny issues in her lyrics, Annika’s songs dig deep into the emotions and complexities of human relationships. Writing country music feels extra special to her because she loves the storytelling of the country music genre, the feel-good energy – even the heartbreak songs are some of her favourites because there is something in the emotion of those songs that really sticks with her. No matter how tough things get, Annika always trys to look at life through a positive or optimistic lens.
Navigating a male-dominated industry, Annika has blazed her own trail. The release of her debut EP “You and Me” has capped a groundbreaking chapter and led to some well earned success, landing on major playlists across Spotify and Apple Music, earning a spot on SiriusXM’s Top of the Country, nominated for a BCCMA award, becoming a finalist in the Boots and Heart’s Music Festival’s Emerging Artist Showcase, chosen as the iHeart Radio Future Star for July and August, made the Rogers One To Watch list for her song “Love and Hate” sending the track to the Billboard Canada Country Top 50, recognized as the JR Country Artist of the month for September and climbed to #1 on Canadian country radio. She is undoubtedly one to watch - but for Annika, the real win is sharing her music with the world, and she’s just getting started.
